White Belt Practice Session
Practicing Kung Fu at home should be easy.
The steps below are set out in a logical order so you can be ready for your grading.
This whole practice sesssion should take about 15 minutes.
Step 1: Follow along with both videos below
Practice the Siu Nim Tao, First form of Wing Chun Kung Fu Performed by Sifu Scott Smith
Note: This form must be memorised
Strikes Routine - 4 Minute Routine All strikes in the air for White Belts
Note: You should watch this video only if you know all strikes for White belts.
Step 2. Pick one technique
Make sure to practice both sides
Dai Sau Punch Left Side
Dai Sau Punch Right Side
Garn Sau Punch Left Side
Garn Sau Punch Right Side
Parry Punch Left Side
Parry Punch Right Side
Tan Sau vs backfist Left Side
Tan Sau vs backfist Right Side
Step 3. Pick one Counter Arm Grab Technique
Make sure to practice both sides
Cutdown Punch vs single arm grab Left SIde
Cutdown Punch vs single arm grab Right Side
Chicken Wing vs single arm grab Left Side
Chicken Wing vs single arm grab Right Side
Cutdown Kick vs double arm grab to Double Palm Strike, either leg is fine
Step 4. Do the 1 minute Four Corners Practice
Four Corners is a combination of doing the techniques Dai Sau Punch and Garn Sau Punch. This is a foundational technique in Kung Fu and can teach you how to defend against all high and low strikes.
